As the name suggests, Backstage Bakeshop has its roots in theatre. Owner Arwen MacDonell is a Toronto-based baker and stage manager. She began selling small loaves of bread to cast and crew members backstage, and it sparked a passion. In 2018, she took a leap and enrolled in George Brown’s full time Baking and Pastry Arts program, where she graduated with honours. Forever a bread enthusiast, she also makes yummy cookies, cakes, pies, and pastries; with a focus on using fresh local ingredients, and always made with love.
